DYSART SCHOOLS — The Dysart Unified School District, in partnership with the Kiwanis Club of Sun City West, is excited to announce the initiation of a district wide competition honoring student designed exhibits of American History. The Dysart History Fair’s focus will be to explain, demonstrate, or otherwise show the impact that science and technology has had, does have or will have on American history.
The newly designed History Fair provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of American history and their understanding of the impact of technological change upon society. The fair also provides a public opportunity for students to exhibit 21st century learning skills as defined by the Dysart 21st Century Learner Skills Initiative. The program is being executed jointly with the Kiwanis Clubs of Division 13 of the Southwest District.
Dysart superintendent Dr. Gail Pletnick said that the district is fortunate to have the opportunity to partner with great organizations to provide excellent programs for its students. Dr. Pletnick stated, “Working together with all members of the Dysart community builds bridges to provide students the ability to be successful both in their school years and in meeting their future goals.” Through the joint work between Dysart and the Kiwanis Club, other service groups are joining the effort. According to Don Block of the Kiwanis Club, “We are pleased that Los Padres Bank has volunteered to support this program with a grant.”
The Dysart History Fair is designed to inspire students to utilize 21st century skills to understand the world in which they live and the challenges that society faces by looking to examples from American history. The competition will culminate with a public display of the history exhibits on Saturday, April 25, 2009, at the Dysart Education Center in Surprise.
