10.45.P.1 Parent Notification

 To complete Step 1 in the expulsion process or Step 6 as outlined under the “Regular Student” section of the policy, administration will give the student/parent written notice that the administration has recommended the student be expelled utilizing the following four contact methods without exception:
 
  • The administration will give the student/parent written notice of the date, time and place for the formal hearing at least five (5) working days prior to the hearing, by sending the written notice via USPS regular mail to the parent(s)/student address.
     
  • The administration will give the student/parent written notice of the date, time and place for the formal hearing at least five (5) working days prior to the hearing, by sending the written notice via USPS certified mail to the parent(s)/student address.
     
  • The administration will give the student/parent written notice of the date, time and place for the formal hearing at least five (5) working days prior to the hearing, by sending the written notice via Dysart District courier to the parent(s)/student address.  The courier will be required to obtain the signature on a district mail receipt of the person accepting the delivery or the courier will record the time and date the attempt to deliver was made.  Following the delivery attempt, an attempt to contact the parent/guardian by phone will be made to arrange a date to redeliver the notice.  This attempt to make contact by phone will be recorded including the time, date, phone number utilized and the result of the attempt.  The notice will be redelivered as arranged by the courier with the parent/guardian/student.
     
  • The administration will give the student/parent written notice of the date, time and place for the formal hearing at least five (5) working days prior to the hearing, by making a phone call to the home of the student. A written record of that call will be made to include the date, time and result of the call.
