**NEW** Drop Off/Pick Up Procedures
NEW Cimarron Springs Drop-Off/Pick-Up Procedures

Cimarron Springs prides itself on being a true community school. We have over 850 students who walk, ride bikes, or are dropped off and picked up each day for school! With that in mind, we have established specific morning and afternoon routines for our busy arrival and dismissal times.

Student safety continues to be a priority, and in an effort to plan for the most effective supervision of our students, we ask that all parents and students follow our New drop-off and pick-up procedures.  Our school start time is 9:00 am with gates opening at 8:40 am.

Students are to report directly to class or head to the cafeteria where breakfast is served from 8:40 - 8:55 am. Please remember, students are not permitted to arrive at school prior to 8:40 am as there is no supervision before that time. Our school end time is 3:45 pm Tuesday - Friday and 1:45 pm on Mondays.

Arrival Procedures:   **Please follow posted signs!

There will now be two lanes: One to pick up (right side of cones) and a continuously moving lane (left side of cones)

Preschool: Park in the school parking lot. Do not park in the front drive at any time.  Enter through the gate across from the parking lot crosswalk (next to the Library, second crosswalk) and walk your child to the classroom. Per state regulations, pre-school parents are required to sign-in their child, in the classroom,  with proper identification.

Kindergarten: Kindergarten students will enter through the Kinder gate at the farthest point in the drive through at the West Gate (facing Cotton Lane). Please pull up as far as possible before letting your student out of the car.  If you park in the parking lot, you must cross the crosswalk and escort your student to the West Gate. Students will not be allowed to cross the crosswalk without an adult escort. If using the front drive to drop students off, pull as far forward as possible, have students exit out the passenger side of the vehicle. Drivers are to remain in their vehicles at all times.  Do not park in the drive at any time.

1st-8th Grade: Students will enter through the courtyard gates and either proceed immediately to their classroom or to the cafeteria for breakfast. When using  the drive to drop students off, pull as far forward as possible, (even if you pass the gate and your student needs to walk “back” towards the gate”) as staff is present for supervision to the gate. Students will exit the vehicle on the passenger side of the vehicle, as there will now be a continuously moving lane on the left.  Drivers are to remain in their vehicles at all times. There will be staff to help children out of the car.  Do not park in the drive.

If additional time is needed to say goodbye, park in the front lot and escort your child across the crosswalk. Students may only use the crosswalk with an adult escort. Bike, skateboard and scooter riders will use the bike rack to lock their rides. No bikes, skateboards or scooters are allowed in the building. All bikes, skateboards and scooters  must be walked at all times on school  grounds.

Dismissal Procedures:   **Please follow posted signs!

Preschool: Park in an actual parking spot at the west side of the parking lot. Do  not park in the front drive at any time. Walk through the PreSchool Labeled gate next to the Library at the second crosswalk to the classroom to sign out your child. (please contact your pre-school teacher for release times).
Kindergarten: We will begin to release Kinder students 10 minutes before the designated release time. Teachers will have students organized according to how they will be picked up. Students will be released through the new Kinder gate at the West Side of the school (facing Cotton Lane). If you are walking to the gate to pick up your child, please park in an actual parking spot in the lot. If you are driving through to pick up, do not park in the front drive, pull all the way to the West Gate as far as possible. Students will be entering the vehicle on the passenger side.
1st-8th Grade:  There will be designated areas in the front of the school for 1st through 5th  grade, identified by signs.  Sixth, 7th and 8th grade do not have designated space but will be in the front of the school. Teachers will be supervising the students by each sign. Students are expected to be listening for their name to be called and watching for their vehicle in the front drive.  Staff members will be stationed along the drive. Drivers are to remain in their vehicles at all times. Do Not park and leave your vehicle at any time. You will be directed to pull up as far as possible,in a single file line, as the line moves forward even if you “pass” your student . Students will be entering the vehicle on the passenger side.

There will now be two lanes: One to park to pick up (right side of cones) and a continuously moving lane (left side of cones)

Important reminders:
  • Refrain from using cell phones while in the front drive/lot.
  • Respectfully follow all directions of school staff.
  • Students must exit/enter passenger side of the vehicle.
  • Staff will wave you forward when it is safe to do so.
  • Siblings can gather at the youngest siblings' cone for easy pick up.
  • Do not block crosswalks.
  • Use only manned crosswalks.
  • Never leave vehicle unattended in the drive.
  • Handicapped spots are reserved for identified vehicles only.
  • Be patient and safe for our students.

Taking the appropriate measures to ensure everyone's safety is worth the effort to follow these guidelines. We appreciate your continued support and assistance to ensure our students arrive and depart Cimarron Springs safely each day. This truly is a combined effort to maintain safety, and we value your partnership and patience as we continually improve this process.

*****A special Thank you goes to The City of Surprise for their year long study of movement around our school, Kevin Shipman (planning administrator, DO), community and staff input that helped to support and plan this new procedure.  Please note that this is always a work in progress and refinements may be made at any time. Appropriate notice to the community will precede any and all changes.
