Economics students win big in mock Stock Market Competition
VVHS Mock stock market competitionMitchell Pinda, Economics teacher at Valley Vista High School used The Stock Market Game game to teach and motivate students in his Economics classes this year.  The Stock Market Game is a state wide competition that gives students the chance to invest a hypothetical $100,000 in an online portfolio. Students get to use real-time stock data analyze the ever changing stock market. They get the opportunity to make decisions on when to buy and sell stocks to try and make the most amount of profit. Economics students at Valley Vista High School got to participate in this semester's game. Out of the over 430 teams that participated in the state, Valley Vista had two teams score in the top 10.  Matthew Klien and Troy Thomas received 4th place in the state and grew their portfolio 27% ending the game with $127,325.62 in their account. The Team nicknamed The Mistakes consisting of Keith Davis, Maria Ruiz, Anthony Rios and Jessica Rico De Leon received 9th place in the state and grew their portfolio 15% ending the game with $115,024.32 in their account. These students worked hard over the course of 12 weeks to complete this game and we could not be any more proud of them.
