Students who exhibit signs and symptoms of a communicable condition, as per Maricopa County Department of Public Health guidelines, will be excluded from school until treatment has begun or the Primary Care Physician has authorized a return to school. Information will be provided to parent/guardian based upon the guidelines/recommendations of the County Health Department.

Conjunctivitis (pink eye) - students should not be back in school for 24 hours after starting treatment AND be symptom free.

Dysart Unified School District has a no nit policy; students with lice or nits will be sent home for treatment. Students may return to school if the health office staff verifies that lice/nits are no longer present. For specific information please refer to the "Head Lice" web site.

Students who present with a fever equal to or greater than 100.4* F will be sent home; parent /guardian may approve treatment/rest/recheck if parent is unable to immediately pick up child. Children may return to school when fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever controlling medicine.

Parent/guardian will be required to pick up a student who vomits more than once.

Children who are vomiting or have a fever before school should remain at home and recuperate.
