VVHS Pom exceeds at UDA camp
VVHS Pom exceeds at UDA campThe Valley Vista High School Pom Line recently attended the Universal Dance Association (UDA) Home Pom Camp on July 24-26. The UDA Home Camp provides teams with a one-on-one opportunity for developing new skills, working on techniques, and team building, all at their home campuses. Home Camp also offers a competitive aspect where individuals have the opportunity to be named All-American and qualify for nationals.

The team has been working hard, despite the current circumstances, to overcome challenges and rise to the occasion in an effort to make this camp a possibility. As a result, the team received 45 Superior Ribbons for routine evaluations, and a Superior Trophy for their performance routine, which earned them a bid to UDA Nationals taking place in Florida next year. Additionally, several students received individual recognition including Brooke Coykendall being named a Drill Down Queen, and seniors Ashtyn Frye, Amanda Goroail, Gabriella Lugo, Madelyn Pritchard, Katelynn Novak, and Karen Lelo de Larrea Gonzalez being named UDA All-American. As an All-American, the athletes are invited to perform at special events across the country, and world.

The Valley Vista Pom Line’s final performance at the camp was also the first Dysart live streamed performance as part of the new Dysart Student Broadcasting Live program. Dysart Student Broadcasting Live is a student run and produced broadcasting program where students work to livestream various events comprising Dysart’s “3 A’s” ...Academics, Arts, and Athletics. The program is open to 9-12 grade students at each of Dysart’s four high schools.

VVHS Graduation Celebration
Graduation Celebration/VVHS

Tuesday, June 30 from 5pm to 9pm, we will celebrate the Class of 2020 as they drive through campus with their immediate family to receive their diploma and graduate high school.

We ask that each family write the graduate's name on a white piece of paper and place it on the dash of the car so it may be easily seen as they enter campus.

We ask that each family assist us in traffic flow by accessing Parkview from Paradise Lane or Tasha Drive. Each vehicle will enter the main school driveway off of Parkview Place, and follow the line to proceed through campus through the arches near the baseball field. Our graduating seniors and their parents will drive through campus (Enter from Parkview/Main office entrance; Enter campus through the arches (near baseball field); Drive through; Seniors only, will exit the vehicle, walk stage, get their diploma and picture taken; reenter the vehicle and then exit through the north gate.)

Seniors who have outstanding fees, may pay by check only. Seniors who have outstanding fees and are not prepared to pay by check will not receive their diploma until their account is clear.

Seniors who choose not to partake in the ceremony may pick up their diplomas on Wednesday or Thursday July 8th or 9th from 8am-330pm, or Monday through Thursday the following week.

Economics students win big in mock Stock Market Competition
VVHS Mock stock market competitionMitchell Pinda, Economics teacher at Valley Vista High School used The Stock Market Game game to teach and motivate students in his Economics classes this year.  The Stock Market Game is a state wide competition that gives students the chance to invest a hypothetical $100,000 in an online portfolio. Students get to use real-time stock data analyze the ever changing stock market. They get the opportunity to make decisions on when to buy and sell stocks to try and make the most amount of profit. Economics students at Valley Vista High School got to participate in this semester's game. Out of the over 430 teams that participated in the state, Valley Vista had two teams score in the top 10.  Matthew Klien and Troy Thomas received 4th place in the state and grew their portfolio 27% ending the game with $127,325.62 in their account. The Team nicknamed The Mistakes consisting of Keith Davis, Maria Ruiz, Anthony Rios and Jessica Rico De Leon received 9th place in the state and grew their portfolio 15% ending the game with $115,024.32 in their account. These students worked hard over the course of 12 weeks to complete this game and we could not be any more proud of them.
