Be a Volunteer? Need a Volunteer?

Volunteer With StudentBe a Volunteer!

"Everybody can be great, because anybody can serve.”  ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

Volunteers do not necessarily have the extra time, they just have the passion and commitment to serving others.  Our school community is excited to integrate community members into our schools and programs.  Community members looking  to get involved and make a difference in the lives of children and their families can volunteer in many ways for our schools, offering valuable support to educators!

In order to become a DUSD approved volunteer, follow these easy steps:

  1. Review the Volunteer Handbook
  2. Complete & submit the Volunteer Application
  3. The Volunteer and Compliance Specialist will schedule a time on Tuesday or Thursdays to complete your volunteer orientation which includes the completion of the fingerprint clearance application.
  4. Once fingerprint clearance is completed, you will receive a green volunteer badge. Fingerprint clearance must be renewed every 5 years.
  5. You are all set!  Report to your site and you can get started!

Frequently Asked Questions:

What if I'm just volunteering for an after school program, like the football team, theater, or marching band?
Any and all individuals that are volunteering to support any program or student for more than a total of 5 hours must be an approved district volunteer (Green Badge).

What if I'm just visiting a school?
Individuals who are visiting a school do not need to be a registered volunteer.  This would include parents who are visiting the school, but not volunteering.   All visitors must follow the schools' visitor sign-in procedures.  Check with the front desk at each school site for more information.

What if I'm chaperoning a field trip?
Volunteer chaperones on overnight field trips or who serve as volunteer athletic coaches must also be fingerprinted, regardless of the total number of hours volunteered.
Please call (623) 876-7875 to set up an appointment to be fingerprinted and ask any questions you may have about the volunteer process.  Volunteer fingerprint appointments will be scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

What if I'm with a parent support organization like a PTO or Booster?
All Booster/PTO/PTA officers must be approved volunteers in the district.  Officers of Parent Organizations may refer to the Parent Support Organization page for additional information.  Please complete the appropriate application and associated documents if you are interested in volunteering.
