Academic Programs

AVID

This year we are excited to implement a new program on our campus for our 7th and 8th grade students. AVID is a program that helps students succeed by focusing on extra support, organization, college and career readiness, collaboration with each other, and note-taking skills. AVID is also at Valley Vista and Dysart High Schools, where many of our students continue their education for high school. Research has shown that AVID and its strategies increase student success and the likeliness that they will graduate from high school.

TenMarks

TenMarks is an online math intervention program for grades 4-8. Students work with their teachers to get help with concepts they struggle with, and to build on skills they already know or want to learn. We also have a math interventionist that helps to train and support our teachers with TenMarks. We celebrate student accomplishments on our TenMarks bulletin board.

Achieve 3000

Achieve 3000 is our reading intervention program for grades 4-8. Students read non-fiction articles, work on comprehension and main ideas, and apply those to questions about the articles. Teachers provide launch lessons to get the class excited about the topics. Our reading interventionist helps to support the teachers and students with their Achieve 3000 work.  Students are rewarded for their hard work by being recognized on our Achieve 3000 bulletin board.
