Friends of the Surprise Library
The Friends of the Surprise Libraries Inc. is a non-profit, independent organization that supports programs at the Surprise Regional Library, the Hollyhock Library, and other local libraries. The Friends began their grant program in 2006. Over the last several years local schools have received over $195,065. 100% of the funds for these grants come from the resale of donated books sold by Volunteers at Friends’ Place in the lobby of the Surprise Library on Bullard Avenue.
Dysart Education Foundation
Dysart Education Foundation (DEF) founded in 1985, awards college scholarships to high school seniors that demonstrate academic excellence, community involvement, and are in need of financial assistance. DEF also puts money directly into classrooms though teaching grants that enable teachers to provide innovative and exciting programs for students.
West-MEC is a public high school district dedicated to providing innovative Career and Technical Education programs that prepare students to enter the workforce and pursue continuing education. West-MEC was established in 2002. It serves a huge region of 4,254 square miles, that is home to more than 1.1 million people. It is just one of the many, voter-approved, joint technological education districts throughout Arizona that gives students an introduction to a vast array of career services in more than 100 school districts, and fulfills a vital need in the education of our young adults.
ASUs iTeachAZ program is designed to provide greater preparation for teacher candidates. It includes an effective yearlong student teaching experience that combines coursework and classroom experience without increasing the amount of time it takes to earn a degree. ASU faculty members and site coordinators deliver coursework at the school site and students are immersed in the school environment.
Communiversity @ Surprise
The Communiversity @ Surprise is a partnership of higher education institutions dedicated to providing students with the opportunity to continue their education and earn progressive degrees. The combined efforts of all participating institutions allow students to pursue educational pathways in one convenient location and to work together to provide a seamless transition for students from one degree level to another.
Surprise/El Mirage PTA Council
The Surprise-El Mirage PTA Council serves the local PTA/PTSA units of the Dysart Unified School District and surrounding schools. Its mission is to represent its members and to empower and support them with skills in advocacy, leadership, and communication to positively impact the lives of all children.
