Meet the Principal

Principal Alicia Ormsbee

Greetings Luke Families,

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year!  I am honored to be able to introduce myself and serve as your new principal.  I can hardly wait to start the new school year and continue to meet the students, families, and community of Luke Elementary!

I began my career in education working in elementary, middle, and high schools as a teacher and administrator.  I attended Central Michigan University where I received a bachelor’s degree in Music Education.  I then started my career as a middle and high school teacher in Michigan before my husband and I moved to Arizona.  The Dysart District has been my home ever since.  I have taught in the district as a K-8 music teacher, and been an Assistant Principal in the district for the past five years.  I am excited to now be a part of the Luke Community.

This year, we will be continuing the frameworks that make Luke an amazing school.  Along with the Global International Academy focus in all grade levels, we will continue to embrace Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.  These habits include:

Habit 1: Be Proactive

Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind

Habit 3: Put First Things First

Habit 4: Think Win-Win

Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood

Habit 6: Synergize

Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw

This framework allows us to educate the whole child.  Our students will continue to use these habits as the foundation for all aspects of their education.  The habits have become a part of the culture at Luke, and we are excited to watch the framework continue and flourish.

As we move into the new school year, we will remain focused on high academic standards, making real world connections for students, instilling leadership qualities, and fostering a safe environment for students to learn.  We are looking forward to building a partnership with you to help your student reach his or her highest potential.  Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to be partners in your child’s education!

    Assistant Principal Jen Auch

It is with great honor and excitement that I introduce myself as your Assistant Principal.

This will be my twentieth year in education. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary and Special Education, a Masters Degree in Administration and Supervision, and a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership with a focus on Effective Schools. I have enjoyed eight years as an Elementary School teacher.  My elementary teaching experience includes working with a variety of learners including, teaching third and fourth grade as well as working as a K-8 Gifted Specialist. Additionally, I have had the privilege of eleven years as an Assistant Principal here in Dysart.

Through this experience, I am both prepared and enthusiastic to join the Luke family as we work together to maximize our students learning experience.
