Meet the Principal

Dear Luke Families,Principal Gillett
Welcome to the 2019-20 school year!  My name is Molly Gillett and I am extremely excited to serve as your new Luke Elementary School Principal. The most important gift we can give to our children is an education, and I feel great privilege that you will be entrusting our team at Luke with the education of your child(ren).  We won’t let you down!

My family and I recently moved to the great state of Arizona from Eugene, Oregon, where I was the principal of an Early College High School.  My passion for educating students is deeply rooted in family tradition and began with a visit to my mother’s kindergarten classroom when I was 17. I remember sitting in a teeny-tiny chair, building snowmen out of cotton balls and thinking every K-12 experience should be as novel and fun-filled as it is in kinder. I didn’t know it then, but that experience has helped to shape my beliefs around education.  In my 20+ year career, I’ve volunteered, coached, taught and led educational programs for some of our most in need students. I believe my love for learning and student-first approach to teaching will be a perfect addition to the amazing community and culture here at Luke.

Luke will continue our school improvement efforts with a focus on being EXTRAORDINARY.  We will strive to provide all students with an extraordinary level of instruction and learning, an extraordinary level of care and compassion, and an extraordinary level of community and belonging. With your continued partnership and support, we will move our school to an A+ academic rating of excellence. I believe that the families of Luke are a valuable partner in the education process and I cannot wait to build relationships with each of you as we work together to support our students on their path to the EXTRAORDINARY.

I would like to introduce another key member of our team, Mrs. Sarah Rosenthal, our new Assistant Principal.  Mrs. Rosenthal comes to us with an extensive background in education and a deep commitment to student success.  Before becoming an Assistant Principal in a neighboring district, Sarah spent 8 years in Dysart as a 6-8th grade teacher and Data Specialist.  She is ecstatic about her return to Dysart and is looking forward to building strong and productive relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members.  Her strong communication skills and follow through will be critical in supporting student achievement. I am excited to work with Mrs. Rosenthal and I know she will be a great addition to our school community. We are looking forward to serving your family as we join the exceptional Luke community.

AP Rosenthal
Hello Luke Jets,

I hope that you are just as excited about the 2019-2020 school year as we are!  We have been very busy this summer in preparation for an extraordinary year.

I am excited to start my 12th year in education.  I earned my Bachelor’s Degree at Concordia University, and my Master’s Degree from Grand Canyon University.  I have taught various grade levels, was Data Improvement Specialist, and an Assistant Principal. I live in the West Valley with my husband, son, and dog.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or clarifications.  In the mornings and after school, you will find me at the front of our main gates, or at the busses assisting all of our students.  If I am unavailable at that time, please feel free to stop by our front office, or call 623-876-7300, to schedule an appointment for a conference.

I am looking forward to building strong and productive relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members at such an extraordinary school.
