Important Fall Sports News

Calling all 6th, 7th and 8th graders.  Are you interested in meeting new people, enjoying time outside with friends and representing the best school around? We are looking for students to participate in baseball, softball and cross country.  See information below.

Girls Softball (Grades 6-8)
Girls Softball tryouts are today (Thursday), Friday, and Tuesday from 4:15-5:15 p.m.  Come out and join our AMAZING team!

Boys Baseball (Grades 6-8)
Boys Baseball tryouts are today (Thursday), Friday, and Tuesday from 4:00-5:00 p.m.  Come out and join our Fantastic team!

Cross Country (Grades 3-8)
Are you in grades 3-8 and love to run and have fun!  If so, please join cross country!  All students in grades 3-8 are eligible for this sport.  Cross country meets every Tuesday-Friday at 8:00 a.m.  Sign up today!

Positive Daily Affirmation
Students begin their day by journaling in their agenda a reflective daily affirmation. Students will then get to share this with their classmates, but we also encourage our families to follow up with at home conversations. Please take the time this weekend to review your child(ren)'s positive affirmations.

Terrific Tuesday: something kind about someone else
Wonderful Wednesday: something positive about this week’s learning
Thankful Thursday: something  or someone you are thankful for

AzMERIT Celebration Assembly
AzMERIT reports were sent home today with all students.  If you child(ren) received a proficient/highly proficient on either their math/reading AzMERIT test, we will be celebrating their success at a HUGE awards assembly scheduled for Friday, August 16th.  The 7/8th Grade Assembly is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. and 4th, 5th, and 6th grade is scheduled at 10:00 a.m.  All students receiving an award at the assembly was given a hot pink slip encouraged families to join in the celebration.  The fun will continue as students will also enjoy Pizza Party at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.

First Week of School
Huge shout out to our amazing staff, students and families for making our first week of school OUTSTANDING!  We had a fantastic week of community building and learning.  Please take the time to review your child(ren)'s agenda to find out what they wrote as a daily positive affirmation and what they are learning this week.

First Day of School, Tuesday, August 6th
Our first day of school is right around the corner.  School starts on Tuesday, August 6th with doors/gates opening at 8:40 a.m.  Families will have the opportunity to walk their child(ren) on the first week of school.  Starting on Monday, August 12th, families will be unable to enter the building.  Extra staff will be on hand to assist students getting to class safely.  As always, breakfast will be served in the classroom until 9:00 a.m.

Meet the Teacher Night, Friday, August 2nd
Please mark your calendar for our annual Meet the Teacher Night at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 2nd.  We will also be hosting our annual Title I meeting at 5:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.

End of the Semester Celebrations - Rock it OUT like a ROCK STAR!
On Thursday, May 16th at 9:00 a.m., we will be celebrating our K-2 Rock Star that have mastered their sight words with a very special breakfast.  Special invites will be sent to our families so they can participate in their child’s success.

Also, at 3:00 p.m., we will be celebrating our 4-8 Reading Achieve3000 Rock Stars who read 40 articles or more to a special pizza luncheon.  Also, our 2nd grade students that Rocked Out 1,000 sight words will be invited (with their family) to join the pizza celebration.

We will be celebrating our K-3 reading Rock Stars that have made significant gains on their DIBELS assessment from the beginning to end of the school year with a very special treat on Monday, 5/20.

8th Grade Celebration Dance
Our annual 8th grade dance is scheduled on Thursday, May 16th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.  This dance is an invitation only event.  Students are not eligible to attend the 8th grade dance if they are: failing any courses, have been suspended out of school, or have had three minor Office referrals.  If you have any questions regarding your child's eligibility, please contact Dr. Saunders or Mr. Kuhn.

DIBELS Testing
Our K-3 DIBELS reading testing will take place on Tuesday, May 14th.  This test assesses student literacy skills and is a good indicator of future reading success.
