Hello Mountain Lions! 

Our teachers have provided Optional Supply Lists for the 2020-2021 academic year.  Each grade level or area has a separate document below.  Please note that some grade levels created one unified supply list for all teachers, while other grade levels have unique supply lists for each teacher.  When you open the document, you may need to navigate to the second or third page to find your child's teacher's list.  Homeroom assignments will be determined and mailed out to families when the office re-opens in July.

Arizona law requires that public schools provide the supplies required for academic success.  All materials required for a student's education will be provided by the Dysart Unified School District. This supply list represents general, optional items which you may supply at your discretion.  Please check with your K-8 school and child's teacher for an optional supply list before purchasing any supplies. If you have questions regarding the optional supply list, please contact your K-8 school.

Summer Hours
Hello Mountain Lions, 

Congratulations on completing another successful school year!  We are proud of how all of you have adapted to the challenges on COVID-19.  As you start your summer, we want to remind you all to continue being Lion Leaders and exhibiting our four norms: Be Responsible, Be Respectful, Be Safe, and Be a Learner. 

Our office staff are back on campus.  The office is open by appointment only, so if you are registering and need to drop off final paperwork, please call our office between 8am and 4:30 pm to set up your appointment.  

Our hours are as follows:  
  • Tuesday, May 26th through Thursday, May 28th: 8am-4:30pm
  • Monday, June 1st through Thursday, June 4th: 8am-4:30pm - office staff will be answering phones, but the office will not be open for appointments.

Due to staff taking vacation, the office will be closed beginning Monday, June 8th, and will reopen on Wednesday, July 8th.  If you are unable to make an appointment regarding registration documents, you can email required documents to our enrollment specialist at [email protected].

In the fall, we will be offering Meet the Teacher dates at the end of July.  
  • Kindergarten, First, and Second grade Meet the Teacher will be from 5pm-6pm on Wednesday, July 29th.
  • Preschool and Third through Eighth grade Meet the Teacher will be on Friday, July 31st, from 5:00-5:45pm and from 6:00-6:45pm (virtual option will be available).

The first day of school will be Tuesday, August 4th.

Important Dates for May from our Newsletter

Dear Students and Families,

As we bring the 2019-2020 school year to a close, we want to thank all of you - parents, students, and community members - for all of your hard work, flexibility, and creativity.  You all have demonstrated what it means to be Lion Leaders - you have been safe, responsible, respectful, and amazing learners.  The staff at MVS could not be prouder to be a part of this community.  Thank you to each and every one of you. 

OPEN National Field Day - Friday, May 8th
As you have heard from Coach Tokhi, we are participating in the OPEN virtual National Field Day this year on Friday, May 8th.  Check out the great website Coach Tokhi put together that has video demonstrations of each activity as well as all of the information you'll need to participate.  We hope every student and staff member can participate, but remember that this is completely voluntary! If you have any questions, you can reach out to Coach Tokhi or Coach Werner


Student Personal Items Pick-Up Dates
We know that some students may still have items at school that need to be retrieved, or may have school library books, sports uniforms, or instruments at home that need to be turned in. Parents are invited to come to the school the week of May 4th-8th for curbside drop-off or pick-up according to the following schedule.  (Please note that chromebook returns and yearbook distribution are scheduled for the week of May 18th and the schedule is listed below.)

Monday, May 4th
  • 1st grade: 8am-10am?
  • Kindergarten parents should reach out to their teachers if they are still missing items that were not picked up during packet pick-up.

Tuesday, May 5th
  • 2nd grade: 8am-10:30am?
  • 3rd grade: 2pm-4pm 

Wednesday, May 6th
  • 4th grade: 8:30am-10:30am?
  • 5th grade: 8am-10:30am

Thursday, May 7th
  • 6th grade: 8am-10am?
  • 7th grade: 9am-11am
 
Friday, May 8th
  • 8th grade: 9am-10:30am?
  • Preschool 3 year olds: 11am-12pm?
  • Preschool 4 year olds: 11am-1pm?
  • Band Instrument Return, 12-1:45 pm - if you have questions, please reach out to Mr. Mea. 

Chromebook Returns and Yearbook Distribution
  • Monday, May 18th: 8am-12pm and 1pm-4:30pm?
  • Tuesday, May 19th: 7:30am-11:30am and 12:30pm-3:30pm.  

Parents who signed out district chromebooks for their students' use during distance learning will need to return all chromebooks on either the 18th or 19th of May.  MVS staff will be present to sign in each chromebook.  Social distancing precautions will be followed. 

Parents who purchased yearbooks can pick them up when they return chromebooks on the 18th or 19th.  If you have questions about picking up or dropping off student items,, please contact your child's homeroom teacher or you can contact Mrs. Featherstone if you have any questions about yearbooks.

8th Grade Promotion Drive-Thru Ceremony - Wednesday, May 20th
  • 9:00 am - Mrs. Perry's Class
  • 9:15 am - Mrs. Strahota's Class
  • 9:30 am - Mrs. Lewellen's Class
  • 9:45 am - Mrs. Lobrigo's class

Kindergarten Drive-Thru Celebration - Wednesday, May 20th, 10:30am-12:00pm
Kindergarten families are invited to come through the parent pick-up lane between 10:30am and 12:00 pm on the 20th so your teachers can see you, say goodbye, and give you a parting gift for your successful completion of kindergarten.  We recommend that parents put their student pick-up sign in their window.  When directed, you will pull forward so that your child's teacher can come to your window. 

At all of these events, health precautions will be followed, and social distancing will be maintained.  


The staff at MVS are proud to be a part of this amazing community. We wish you all a safe and happy May, and look forward to seeing you all again in person in the fall.

8th Grade Promotion Drive-Thru Ceremony

Hello, Mountain View 8th Graders!

Can you believe that your time at Mountain View is coming to a close? No one could have predicted that your 8th grade year would end in quite this way, but we want each of you to know how proud the staff at MVS are of you. You all have put forth your best effort in very difficult circumstances, and you have made your families and teachers extremely proud of you.

Even though we cannot hold our scheduled 8th Grade Promotion ceremony, we still want to celebrate your accomplishments before we say good bye. So we are going to hold an 8th Grade Promotion Drive-Thru Ceremony!

Your teachers will be sharing a presentation with you all that includes a special message from Principal Miller, a picture slideshow, and more. On Wednesday, May 20th, all 8th grade families will be invited to participate in a Drive-Thru ceremony in our front student drop-off lane.

Please read the instructions below carefully. 
  • First, please note that walk-ups will not be permitted. Students and guardians must be in a vehicle in the student drop-off lane in front of the school.
     
  • Students will be invited to arrive according to their homeroom:
    • Mrs. Perry’s class - 9:00am
    • Mrs. Strahota’s class - 9:15am
    • Mrs. Lewellen’s class -9:30 am
    • Mrs. Lobrigo’s class - 9:45am
       
  • Cars will enter the pickup lane and give your name to Mr. Tokhi, who will be at the first crosswalk.
     
  • Certificates will be organized alphabetically at four separate tables: A-F, G-L, M-R, and S-Z.
     
  • When you are given the go-ahead, pull forward in the left lane. Pull over to the curb next to the table that corresponds with your last name. An 8th grade teacher will come to your car window with your promotion certificate.

  • As you pull forward, our PTA president will be taking photos of the students as they receive their certificates. If you do not want a picture taken of your student, please let one of the 8th grade teachers know. Pictures will be shared with you all and will be available for download.


We are looking forward to seeing you all to wish you well as you head off to high school. We will be following all health precautions and will be maintaining distance while we celebrate your accomplishments. Certificates for students who cannot attend will be mailed.

Picking up Student Items from Classrooms
Hello, Mountain View families, 

Please coordinate with your child's homeroom teacher if your student left medications, eye glasses, or items that are necessary for remote learning on campus.  They will arrange for a time for you to pick up those items.  

School supplies and assignments can be picked up after the stay at home order has been lifted by the governor's office. 

Please disregard our previous communication, and thank you for your flexibility.

Important Update re: Chromebooks & Meds pickup 3/31
Due to Governor Ducey's stay at home order that will take effect on March 31st at 5:00 p.m., we are updating our chromebook and medication pickup to tomorrow, Tuesday, March 31st.  

Parents who need to sign out chromebooks or who need to get their student's medications from the health office should come knock on the front door between 8:30 and 11:30 a.m. and between 1 and 4:00 p.m. 

After Tuesday, March 31st, families will not be able to pick up personal items from campus until the stay-at-home order is lifted, which is currently projected for May 1st. 

Please also be aware that, while the office staff will not be able to answer phones in the office, staff will be responding to all voicemails that are left on the main school line.

MVS Update
Hello, Mountain View families! We miss all of you and know that remote learning is a new experience for everyone.  Be patient with your technology and yourselves and remember that we are all learning to adjust to the new situation.  

If you are still in need of a chromebook to check out, please email Mrs. Miles with your child's name and grade level to be added to the list.  Our next chromebook check-out time will be Friday, April 3rd, from 1-3pm.  

The front office staff are on campus to answer phone calls during normal office hours, 8am-4:30pm.  If you have specific questions regarding your child's workload, please reach out to the teacher directly.  Teachers are not currently on campus, but are checking their emails throughout the day. 

We still have student medications in the health office that we would like to return to parents/guardians.  We will be setting up times that parents can come retrieve medications.  Information will be sent out later this week. 

The teachers and staff at MVS miss seeing your happy faces every day.  Thank you for making Mountain View extraordinary!
