Parent Survey
Attention Dysart parents!

We're seeking your input on our 2020 Parent Survey. We want to know what our district and schools are doing well and how we can improve in the future. The survey will be open until February 28 and should take about 10 minutes to complete.

Find it in English

Estimados padres, queremos solicitar sus comentarios sobre la experiencia de aprendizaje de su hijo en Dysart: lo que estamos haciendo bien, y cómo mejorar en áreas que no son extraordinarias.? Upcoming Events at MVS
Hello, Mountain Lions!

We have a number of upcoming events you should know about at MVS and through the District this month.

Wednesday, February 12th - Apex REMIX.  Students will be participating in the Remix event during school on February 12th.  Unfortunately, since the event is in the gymnasium and we have multiple grade levels competing simultaneously, families are not able to attend as spectators.  Our third grade will be going to the Musical Instrument Museum that day for their field trip, and will be participating in APEX upon their return to school in the afternoon.

Thursday, February 13th - Dysart Community Education is partnering with the Surprise Police Department to discuss Safe Neighborhoods from 6-8 pm at the Surprise City Hall Community Room, located at 16000 N Civic Center Drive, Surprise, AZ 85374.  The police department will be sharing information on a number of topics, including situational awareness, developing a family plan, emergency response: run, hide, fight, as well as school emergency responses.  Come join them for resources, tools, and tips to keep you and your family safe at home, in school, and all around the community.  See Something, Say Something!  For questions, contact Community Education.

Thursday and Friday, February 13th and 14th - these are early release days (1:45 pm. release) due to parent-teacher conferences.  You can sign up for a conference spot with your child's homeroom teacher.  Please note that the front office may not have each teacher's conference schedule, so contacting your child's homeroom teacher will be the best option for arranging your conference.  Conferences will be held on Thursday from 2-7 pm.

Monday, February 17th - No school for President's Day

Saturday, February 22nd - the MVS Science Olympiad team will be competing at the North Central Regional Competition.  Good luck, MVS!

Friday, February 28th - the 4th grade is going to the Phoenix Zoo!

Saturday, February 29th - MVS STEAM Day! Come STEAM ahead with hands-on activities, view your student's STEAM projects, and have a great time celebrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics education at MVS!

Important info re: Library Fines
Dear Families,

Please DO NOT pay a fee for your child's library book unless it is truly lost. The system is set up to assign a fee if the book is overdue and it is out of our control to change that feature.  Please know that if a book is overdue and your child turns it in the fee will come off as soon as the book is checked in. Mrs. Lopez checks books in weekly.

Thank you!

Future Freshman Nights
Future Freshman Parents and Guardians -

Next week, all Dysart high schools will host their Future Freshman events where students entering high school in the 2020-21 academic year and their parents or guardians will have an opportunity to hear about high school expectations, signature programs, and the process for registration and class selection. These meetings are designed to provide incoming freshmen with an overview of the academic programs available at Dysart’s four high schools and explain the process of registering for an appropriate grouping of ninth-grade classes.

Future Freshman Nights are scheduled as follows:
  • Dysart High School - Tuesday, January 14th from (5:30-7:00 PM) at 11425 N. Dysart Road, El Mirage
  • Shadow Ridge High School - Wednesday, January 15th (6:00-7:30 PM ) at 10909 N. Perryville Road, Surprise
  • Valley Vista High School - Tuesday, January 14th (5:30-7:00 PM) at 15550 N. Parkview Place, Surprise
  • Willow Canyon High School - Monday, January 13th (5:30-7:00 PM) at 17901 W. Lundberg Street, Surprise

This is a great opportunity to learn about high school classes, course selection, unique and career-related programs, core curriculum, and graduation requirements. Attending Future Freshman Night motivates eighth graders to remain focused on their true academic goal – completing high school and beyond.

We hope you can attend one of these events with your student!

Veterans Day Celebration 11/7
Mountain View School would like to invite all of our military families (active duty, retired, veteran) with students in grades 4 through 8 to attend the 2019 Veterans Day Celebration on Thursday, November 7, 2019, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. in our gymnasium.

Two students will be reading their essays on "Home of the Free Because of the Brave," our choir will be singing, two first grade classes will sing a song, and we will have a guest speaker.  It is a wonderful opportunity to honor our military families.  We are also inviting our Veterans to sign up to read to a classroom in Kindergarten through Third grade after the celebration.

Veterans who would like to attend and those who would like to read to a primary level classroom can RSVP in one of three ways:

1. Respond online using our Veterans Day Celebration google form;

2. Email Rachel, the administrative secretary, with the name and grade level of your student, as well as the names and branch of service of your guests; if you are willing to read to a primary level class, please also let her know that you are interested and whether you prefer a specific grade level or classroom; or

3. Call the school office at 623-876-7450 and speak with Rachel.

We look forward to seeing you all and honoring your service.
