Site Council

Purpose

About the Canyon Ridge School Site Council -

The Canyon Ridge School Site Council is a semi-autonomous body consisting of parents, teachers, administrators and community members.  As mandated by the Dysart Unified School District, the purpose of Site Council is to manage the collection and distribution of public tax expenditure funds donated to the campus.  Our by-laws dictate that donated funds be utilized for extra-curricular activities; unless otherwise specified by those making the contribution. Periodically, the council also reviews school policies and offers feedback.

The distribution of tax expenditures is governed by an application process. All requests are examined by the council on a monthly basis and majority vote decides each pending issue. During the 2018-2019 academic year, the Site Council will focus its efforts on extra-curricular activities and all athletics funding. Ongoing fundraising, via community tax credit donations, will also play a prominent role.

All current council members were chosen to serve based on a nomination and annual election process.

Canyon Ridge School is currently seeking interested community members for the 2018 -2019 Site Council. This body consists of parents, teachers, administrators and community leaders. The council is responsible for the distribution of tax credit donations for extra-curricular activities.  

Potential members will need to be available for six meetings throughout the school year. Each gathering will occur on a Monday afternoon at 4:00 pm. Meetings do not usually exceed one hour in length. Council members will be asked to support periodic council fundraising efforts and be available by e-mail for related tasks. The Site Council will meet on the following dates:

August 20, 2018
September 17, 2018 - Meeting Postponed to September 24, 2018
November 19, 2018 - Meeting Canceled per Majority Vote of Members
January 28, 2019
February 25, 2019
April 22, 2019

If you are interested in becoming a member, please submit your nomination by contacting Mr. Christopher Raso at christopher.raso@dysart.org by Monday August 6th. You may also need to participate in the electronic Site Council election on August 8, 2018.

All members were selected based on a nomination/election process that is outlined in the council by-laws. The Site Council will conduct our first meeting on August 20, 2018 at 4:00 pm in room 155. Revised procedures and paperwork will be discussed and adopted at that time.

The following day, I will share the new items with all staff so that teachers may apply for council funding of certain extra-curricular activities. For those new to our district, a brief description of the Site Council is stated above.
