Ashton Ranch Arrival/Dismissal Proceduresfor the 2018-2019 School Year

Ashton Ranch prides itself on being a true community school. We have approximately 700 students who will walk, ride bikes, or be dropped off each day.  With that in mind, we have established specific morning and afternoon routines for our busy arrival and dismissal times.

Student safety continues to be a priority, and in an effort to plan for the most effective supervision of our students, we ask that all parents and students follow our drop-off and pick-up procedures. Our school start time is 8:15 a.m. and breakfast is served every morning until 8:05 a.m.   All  gates will open at 7:55 a.m. and students will report directly to the café or classrooms to begin their day.

Please remember, students are not permitted to arrive at school prior to 7:55 a.m., as we do not have supervision available.  If prior arrangements have been made with a staff member, students are to check in the front office to wait for the teacher.  Our school end time is 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday through Friday, and  Monday & early release dismissal is at 1:00 p.m.

Arrival Procedures

Preschool: Park in an actual parking spot in the front parking lot.  Do not park in the front drive at any time.  Per state regulations, preschool parents are required to sign-in their child, in the classroom, with proper identification.  Escort your child through the Kindergarten gate.

Kindergarten-3rd Grade Drop off: Students will enter through the K-3 Parent Pick Up/Drop Off gate, just right of the kindergarten playground.  When exiting a vehicle, all students must exit on the passenger side of the vehicle.  Drivers are to remain in the vehicle at all times.  If you are walking your child to the gate, please park in an actual parking spot in the front lot located by the office.  Walkers and bike riders can also use this gate. Remember, bikes, scooters and skateboards are to be walked at all times on school grounds. Students are to walk to secure their bikes, scooter and skateboards in the bike rack. The school is not responsible for stolen property.

4th-8th Grade Drop Off: Students will enter through the 4-8 Parent Pick Up/Drop Off gate, located on the left side of the campus (old bus lane).  When exiting a vehicle, all students must exit on the passenger side of the vehicle.  Drivers are to remain in the vehicle at all times.  Remember, bikes, scooters and skateboards are to be walked at all times on school grounds. Students are to walk to secure their bikes, scooter and skateboards in the bike rack. The school is not responsible for stolen property. All students who walk or ride bikes, scooters and or skateboards may enter in two locations: the back field or front K-3 drop off gate. Only bus riders may enter through the staff parking lot gate.

Dismissal Procedures

All students must be picked up by 3:00 p.m. (1:00 p.m. on Mondays and other early release days).  There is no supervision after this time.  Dens Club is a before/after school program that is available for a monthly fee.  Please call Dysart’s Community Education department for more details at 623-876-7056.

Preschool:  Park in an actual parking spot in the front parking lot.  Do not park in the front drive at any time.  Per state regulations, pre-school parents are required to sign-out their child, in the classroom, with proper identification.  Escort your child through the Kindergarten gate.  There will be window tags given to preschool and kindergarten parents to allow them entry to the front parking lot at dismissal.

Kindergarten:  Teachers will have students organized by how they will be picked up (by parent, walking with sibling, and so forth) and will assist in supervising students, coordinating pick-ups at the gate, and assisting children to their vehicles.  Students will be released through the Kindergarten gate.  Drivers are to remain in the vehicle at all times.  If you are walking to the gate to pick up your child, please park in an actual parking spot in the front lot.  If you are in a vehicle to pick up, do not park in the front drive.  Students will be entering the vehicle on the passenger side. There will be window tags given to preschool and kindergarten parents to allow them entry to the front parking lot at dismissal.

1st-8th Grade Pickup:  Students will use the appropriate front 1st-3rd or side bus lane 4th-8th to be picked up by car. Students will remain in the area supervised by teachers until their ride is moved to the appropriate area. With that we ask cars pull all the way forward and not expect students to be picked up in the bike lanes.

1st-8th Walkers and Bike/Scooter Riders : Students will exit through the back field or the front parent pick up gate. Students will need to utilize the crosswalks and bike lanes in the front and back of the school.
