Seal of Biliteracy

The Seal of Bi-literacy is an award that recognizes a student's proficiency in two or more languages while in highSeal of Biliteracy
school. The seal highlights the importance of being fluent in multiple languages within the academic community.
The Seal is currently awarded in 36 states in the United States and continues to gain academic scholarly credit within the United States.
How Do I Qualify?
  • The student must have a 2.0 or higher
  • Pass the ELA end of course exam
  • Be proficient in English/ score proficient on AZELLA
  • Obtain a passing score on AP, IB, or AAPPL assessment.

Students who are awarded the seal are mailed a seal to place on their diploma. The seal is noted on the student's transcript.

This seal was awarded to 316 students in the State of Arizona for the first time last school year 2017/2018.
