A-F School Letter Grades

Arizona Revised Statutes § 15-241 requires the Arizona Department of Education, subject to final adoption by the State Board of Education, to develop an annual achievement profile for every public school in the state based on an A through F scale. The system measures year to year student academic growth, proficiency on English language arts, math and science, the proficiency and academic growth of English language learners, indicators that an elementary student is ready for success in high school and that high school students are ready to succeed in a career or higher education and high school graduation rates. 

The Dysart Unified School District has received 18 A-rated and 4 B-rated schools in the 2023 state accountability labels. The number of Dysart schools with an “A” rating has tripled since 2019, and boasts a fifty percent increase over last year.  

“An “A” rating for Dysart is reflective of our diligent focus on academics and student achievement,” said Superintendent Dr. John Croteau. “Our staff have been working hard to ensure student growth and proficiency in core subject areas, and with 18 schools receiving an “A” rating, it is clear that our efforts are working.” 

Dysart had zero “D” or “F” schools, and only two schools with a “C” (Thompson Ranch Elementary School and Dysart Middle School). 

• Dysart Schools increased number of “A” rated schools from 12 (in 2022) to 18 
• 92% of Dysart schools are “A” or “B” rated 
• 100% of district high schools have an A-rating 
• Freedom Traditional Academy scored 6th highest in the state among all K-8 schools, moving up from 8th last year 
• Shadow Ridge High School was ranked #22 among all high schools in the state 
• Five Dysart schools scored in the top 10% of the state, including Canyon Ridge, Freedom Traditional, Kingswood, Marley Park, and Shadow Ridge High School, and another five are in the top 20% (Asante, Mountain View, Rancho Gabriela, Sunset Hills, and Surprise) 
• Zero “D” or “F” schools in Dysart
