2023/2024 School Newsletters
It is hard to believe we are already in April! March was a great month full of celebrations! We held our 3rd quarter awards ceremony for our 4th-8th grade students. We also held our leveling up ceremonies for Benchmark 2. Lastly, we welcomed our incoming kindergarten families and students to our kindergarten showcase!
We have many exciting things coming up in the month of March. Students will be recognized for leveling up from BM 1 to BM 2 and receive a certificate during their grade level assembly. We will hold our 3rd quarter awards ceremonies for students in grades 4-8 next week on March 13 and 14. The grade level specific times are listed on the calendar in the newsletter. We are looking forward to celebrating the achievement of our students!
February is full of exciting events at Sunset Hills! Parent teacher conferences are the week of February 5-9. Teachers have sent out communication to set up a conference. Our goal is to meet with 100% of our families. During the week of parent teacher conferences, our PTO will be running the Scholastic Book Fair. Please stop by the Book Fair when you are at Sunset Hills!
November was a great month, filled with many celebrations! To highlight a few, our boys baseball team and girls softball team both made it to the playoffs and played great! NJHS had a successful canned food drive, placing 2nd in the entire district for the most cans collected! We held another wonderful Thanksgiving Family Lunch for all families to enjoy!
November is here and the weather is finally cooling down! We had a great October with having an opportunity to meet with parents to discuss student progress, celebrating accomplishments of our students in the awards ceremonies and having a fantastic PTO Fall Festival! There are many exciting events in November!
The first quarter of the 2023-2024 school year has concluded and was a success! Our athletic seasons began with baseball, softball, and cross country. Additionally, our choirs represented Sunset Hills very well in the Dysart Festival of Choirs. Throughout the first quarter, academics have been the focus and we have seen great improvements in student growth this year as compared to last year already! Everyone continues to work collectively to ensure the success of our students!
Our first full month of school has been outstanding! We are so excited to welcome all staff, students and families back to our 2023-2024 school year! Our staff has worked hard this month to lay the foundation for a great year ahead at Sunset Hills, and their dedication to the success of our students is greatly appreciated! .....
Welcome back to an exciting new school year! I am honored to be the principal at Sunset Hills Elementary, an "A" rated school! Our staff has prepared extensively during the summer and into the new year to welcome students back! Our teachers attended a summer workshop at the end of last school year where they planned using the state standards, district scope and sequence and assessments to plan for instruction for students. We are all prepared to focus on learning and support our students in being successful this school year! .....
