OVERVIEW

Mountain View School seeks to increase student achievement across content areas by providing a reliable, sustainable framework to improve learning that instills our students with 21st-century skills, the 4 C’s (Collaborator, Communicator, Critical Thinker, and Creator), STEAM literacy, and strategies. Mountain View promotes individualized, personalized, and differentiated instructional practices that support inquiry-based and experiential learning, engineering principles, and performance-based assessment. STEAM education is embedded in all grade levels, and is designed to connect our students with the potential career and technical education pathways that will be available to them at Shadow Ridge High School: Graphic Design, Digital Communications, Engineering, and Business & Marketing.

Mathematics

Dysart Schools use Illustrative Mathematics for instruction. IM K–11 is a problem-based core curriculum built on the principle that all students are capable learners of grade-level mathematics. Students learn math by doing math. They are encouraged to use their current understanding of math, their lived experiences, and the world around them as resources for problem solving.

Mountain View is a Pre-K through 8th grade school that integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics into everything we do. We are an AdvancED STEAM certified school! In all content areas, students learn to use the Engineering Design Process to solve real-world problems, design and evaluate their solutions. All of our students apply the content skills they have mastered in class to solve new challenges that arise from a rapidly changing world. Our students are taught to be creators, collaborators, communicators, and critical thinkers.
