City of Surprise and Valley Vista High School to host mock crash ahead of prom
The City of Surprise Fire-Medical Department will conduct a drunk/distracted driving mock drill for over 2,600 students at Valley Vista High School football stadium.

What: The event will educate young adults by emphasizing the dangers and life-changing consequences of impaired and/or distracted driving two days before the Valley Vista High School Prom.  The Surprise Fire Medical Department (SFMD) was awarded grant funding from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (AZGOHS) to enhance community awareness about drunk and distracted driving.  While the event is closed to the public, media is welcome to cover the event.

Who: Students from Valley Vista High School Theater program will play the roles of drivers and passengers in wrecked vehicles with City of Surprise Police and Fire responding to the crash.  The event will include having Surprise Police and Fire conduct on-scene operations as if the crash was real.

Where: Valley Vista High School at 15550 N. Parkview Place, Surprise, AZ 85374.  Media are asked to park in the southwest parking lot near the gymnasium.

When: This closed event will take place at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19th.
