Superintendent Honored for Contributions to Education

DYSART SCHOOLS - Dysart Superintendent Dr. Quinn Kellis was named the Arizona School Public Relations Association 2020 Superintendent of the Year for his contributions to education. The award recognizes a superintendent for their leadership and high ideals of professionalism; commitment to good communications; support of public relations planning and strategies; and the ability to work with staff, parents and the community for the benefit of students.

His nomination cites numerous examples of Dr. Kellis’ dedication to communications, including his weekly Super in 60 Seconds videos, regular staff and parent emails, and the push to live stream Governing Board meetings for accountability. Dr. Kellis commits a large portion of his time to listening, communicating and collaborating with staff, parents, students and the community by hosting advisory meetings for various groups, and the district goals were developed through feedback from survey data. Dr. Kellis participates in numerous district and school activities and events. He initiated a mission to provide extraordinary service to all, recognizing individuals with Dysart Extraordinary Awards for going above and beyond in their service and actions.

Excerpts from his nomination include:
- “Dr. Kellis easily balances the leadership demands with approachability, collaboration and a regular focus on communications. He makes himself available to all stakeholders in a variety of ways, and is unusually responsive to emails and phone calls for a superintendent of a district this size.”
- “Dr. Kellis strives for transparency and accountability in everything.  He conducts countless meetings with various stakeholders to ensure their voices are heard. And he genuinely listens and takes into consideration what he hears. Over the last two years, he visited every school in the district at least once a month, among attending many other Arts events and Athletic competitions. He is highly visible and extremely approachable to all.”
- “When it comes to superintendents that contribute to and support public relations and communications efforts, Dr. Quinn Kellis goes to the top of the list. Simply put, he is extraordinary.”
