NCLB - ANNUAL MEASURABLE OBJECTIVES (AMO)

Annual Measurable Objectives (AMOs) are the percentage of students needed to score at Meets or Exceeds on the AIMS tests in order the meet the criteria for making Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) under the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB). For example, a school must have 56 percent or more of their students in grade 4 at Meets or Exceeds on the AIMS Reading assessment to meet the AMO for the school's AYP determination. This same AMO must be met on the same grade level in any of the subgroups (Ethnicity, ELL, Special Education, and Economically Disadvantaged) for which there is a count of 40 students or more. In 2011 the AMOs will increase each year to 2014.
