Scott Kerr
Ralph Quintana

Hello! My name is Scott Kerr. I am the principal at Thompson Ranch Elementary School. We are a pre-K – 8 school serving parts of El Mirage and Surprise. My wife and I have five children. Our only daughter is the oldest followed by our four sons. My wife and I have lived in Glendale for over 27 years and we both have family in Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. I have been a math teacher for 16 years, 2 of those were at Dysart Middle school.  I have coached multiple sports including 21 years of football. I began my administrative career as an AP opening Valley Vista and supporting students as the dean and athletic director. Eleven of the last twelve years I have been the principal at Rancho Gabriela. I actually retired in 2020 and was asked to come back as an interim principal at Rancho in 2021, which I gladly did. I am looking forward to leading Thompson Ranch to excellence with our staff, students and community. Please, come and be a part of the wonderful process of making our children into young men and women ready and prepared to achieve greatness in high school! Remember: All students will learn!

C. Scott Kerr - Principal

I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona and am a 4th generation Arizonan. Upon graduating high school from Trevor G. Browne, I pursued a higher education at Phoenix College, where I obtained an Associate’s Degree. I then chose to enlist in the United States Army to serve our country, earning the rank of Sergeant, before I was medically discharged. Soon after I continued in my educational journey at A.S.U., obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in U.S. History. A short time later, I decided to continue in education, and obtained a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership. The majority of my twenty-one years in teaching has been as an eighth grade English Language Arts teacher. Additionally, I have taught in English Language Learner classrooms, with students varying from sixth to eleventh grade. Most recently I worked at Dysart High School as an Academic Interventionist and Assistant Varsity Wrestling Coach.

I am fortunate to be the father of two amazing children, Alyssa and Elijah. My eldest, Alyssa, is currently pursuing a career in education and has blessed me with two beautiful granddaughters. My son has chosen to follow in my footsteps and is presently serving in the United States Army Reserves. I am very committed to both my career and family, and I look forward to my second year as an administrator at Thompson Ranch Elementary School.
