OVERVIEW
At Rancho Gabriela, students are introduced to and participate in regular physical activity through Physical Education (PE) specials classes. Additionally, our older students can begin competitive sports through Cross Country beginning in third grade. It is our goal to provide positive, healthy athletic experiences for our students.
PROGRAMS OFFERED
Cross Country
Students in third and fourth grade may choose to participate in Cross Country after school. The team competes against other Dysart schools during the Fall season, and is a great way to get involved in a safe and supportive environment.
PE
Physical Education class will include age and physically-appropriate activities centered around fitness activities, sports, health science, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Students will learn skills related to lifetime activities including how to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle, movement and how it impacts the human body, the rules, tactics, strategies, and etiquette of games and sports.
Chess
Dysart Schools is piloting a competitive Chess program for students in grades 3-8. The program will use the US Chess Federation & AIA rules and up to 10 students per school will compete in a swiss team style tournament. Practice begins Sept. 8, quad meets begin Sept 22, and the championship meet will be held November 15.
