OVERVIEW
Sonoran Heights Middle School places a strong emphasis on student athletics, understanding the importance of students participating in outside activities to enhance the learning experience. Sonoran Heights continues to have top tier athletic programs, with current championships in Boys Basketball and Boys Baseball.
Sonoran Heights Elementary School is part of the Dysart Schools Blue Region. The region comprises schools from the district. Regular season games will be played against teams in that region. At the end of the regular season, the top 6 teams in the Blue and Green Regions will come together and compete in the Dysart Schools Tournament to crown a champion. The top four teams from the Dysart Schools tournament will compete in the Northwest Valley Athletic Conference Tournament of Champions against the top teams from Peoria and Deer Valley Unified School Districts.

Cheer consists of two seasons for each division and a final All District Cheer Competition at the end of the school year. All cheer teams will cheer for their home team at basketball games and flag football games during the winter and spring seasons. The All District Cheer Competition is mandatory for all schools and is hosted by a high school Varsity Cheer Team.

Dysart Schools is piloting a competitive Chess program for students in grades 3-8. The program will use the US Chess Federation & AIA rules and up to 10 students per school will compete in a swiss team style tournament. Practice begins Sept. 8, quad meets begin Sept 22, and the championship meet will be held November 15.
